Travelling to Antarctica is an experience you will never forget, but to explore these incredible destinations with a Chimu flavour is even better. Chimu love exploring new and exciting regions that have rarely been visited by most travellers and host their own charters often with an environmental, cultural or social focus, or with a special guest.
Departs 22 Nov 2019 on the MV Hondius
November in Antarctica is a magical time. Not only is it early in the season, leading to vast swathes of sea ice, the whole peninsula is blanketed in pure white snow and is very different to the scenes later in the season. Penguins are nesting, whales are starting to find their way south and there are less tourists than any other time of the short Antarctic summer. It’s also a perfect time to combine it with Patagonia, before the crowds arrive. This journey will take place on the brand new MV Hondius, and Chimu are delighted to be the charters of this incredible vessel, offering an amazing itinerary exclusive to Chimu Adventures. The trip is escorted by a Chimu Adventures tour leader and full expedition crew.
Departs 1 Feb 2020 on the Ocean Atlantic with special guest Kurt Fearnley
Three times Paralympic gold medalist and the holder of a plethora of other international medals and achievements, including Gold at the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia, and succesfully crawling the Kokoda Track, Kurt Fearnley AO truly knows what it feels like to be on top of the world. Now, on this unique fundraising journey, Kurt will travel to the incredible beauty found at the end of the earth, on a quest to raise funds supporting education for people with disabilities, living marginalised areas. Antarctica is a place where no society exists, where barriers don’t box people in and being is all that matters. It is the perfect stage to springboard awareness and support for the abilities of people with disabilities.
Departs 01 Mar 2020 on the Ocean Atlantic
Visiting the Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula, in this exclusive charter, unique to Chimu Adventures, you will be trailing in the wake of the legendary polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, who led three expeditions to the Antarctic and has become well known for his formidable rescue effort of his crew, who were stranded on Elephant island after losing their ship to the wrath of the Antarctic sea ice, back in 1917. Set amidst awe-inspiring scenery of imposing mountain ranges, beautifully carved icebergs, ice-filled channels and spectacular glaciers, you will be greeted by vast penguin colonies, seals, whales and an abundance of seabirds.
