Head north to the medieval city of Trondheim, whose colourful history is reflected in its handsome civic architecture. Take an optional excursion to the medieval Nidaros Cathedral or the enthralling Ringve Music Museum before setting sail towards the land of the Midnight Sun. (BLD)
Cross the Arctic Circle and continue north to the modern town of Bodo. From here, you can choose to join the optional Saltstraumen Safari (at an additional cost) to experience the world’s strongest maelstrom. Spend a relaxing morning at sea before arriving in Tromso, the capital of Arctic Norway. Modern shops and cafes provide a contrast to the stunning stained glass of the Arctic Cathedral, and the Polar Museum and Polaria Centre offer a fascinating insight into Arctic life over the centuries. (BLD)

The vistas and sea life become more dramatic as you approach Kirkenes, located just a few kilometres from the Russian border and the Sami communities of Northern Finland. Bid farewell to the northbound passengers and welcome those joining the southbound voyage. The ports visited at night on the northward journey are now seen by day on the trip south. Each season has its own unique beauty on the Norwegian coast, as spring and summer flowers give way to the red hues of autumn and glaciers reflect the dazzling rays of the sun. (BLD)

The ship negotiates an intricate network of isles and inlets as you pass through the legendary Lofoten Islands, one of the most beautiful stretches of the Norwegian coastline. You have the option of making an overland excursion from Harstad to Sortland (at an additional cost), where you rejoin the ship before experiencing the highlight of the voyage for many – a possible detour into the spectacular and dramatic Trollfjord. This remarkable day ends with an evening stop at Svolvaer before you bid farewell to the islands at Stamsund. (BLD)
